How to Care for Grout & Tile

Although tile and grout look beautiful, these materials can be difficult to clean. While everyday maintenance is your best bet, Angie has three tips for keeping tile and grout clean in kitchens,  bathrooms, and high-traffic areas:

  • Make your own cleaning solution out of baking soda and water. Apply this mixture to the grout and tile let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes and then scrub it with a toothbrush and rinse.
  • Scrub smarter not harder by using a stiff grout brush or old toothbrush, and work in small sections to keep cleaner from drying before you scrub.
  • Seal grout every 1 to 2 years to prevent staining and to make future cleaning easier. You know it’s time to re-seal grout, when water is absorbed by the grout and doesn’t bead on it.

If your tile and grout still look dingy after all of these steps, Angie can recommend a company to use for a professional deep cleaning or steam cleaning , which can restore grout without having to regrout.
